* FRIDAY NIGHT - no limits on number of people - but kindly plan to be flexible
Walking tour 5:30 - We will meet in the conference hotel lobby at 5:30 (giving people enough time to get back from the class visits and relax a bit). The Karasuma Kyoto Hotel is marked as no. 29 on your Kyoto Sightseeing Map. The walking tour will try and mix the old and new of Kyoto and take into account the wishes of the presenters and the weather. For those of you interested in seeing palaces and museums then consider visiting them on the Friday earlier in the day as they tend to be closed by 5:00 and on Mondays.
Dinner 7:30 - Meet back at the Karasuma Kyoto Hotel Lobby Depending on the wishes of the group and their respective budgets a local restaurant will be chosen for a dinner. We are hoping to feature two speakers : Jeffrey Holmes (Executive Director of Canadian International Bureau of Education) and Professor Ichikawa (A Director of the IEEE and Head of the Information Systems Laboratory of Hiroshima University). The aim of the evening is to provide a relaxing and enjoyable way for people, especially those coming from overseas, to meet and get to know each other.
* MONDAY CLASS VISITS - Limited in terms of numbers Visitors will be welcome at the business English classes taught by Tom Robb (9:00 - 10:30) or Bernie Susser (10:40- 12:10) in room 10206 (room 206 of the main conference building at Kyoto Sangyo University). In these classes the students use word processing to write business letters, which they then send via the LAN to the instructor's station. Most class time is spent with the students writing and the instructor conferencing with individual students. The students are required to log into a program that records their attendance; the instructors make use of the various display equipment in this new lab. Visitors are requested to note that these are actual classes, not demonstrations.

We hope that this information will be useful to you as presenters and also hope that this list will continue to provide you with announcements, notices and more information about the type of events we will be holding etc. Presenters may also wish to introduce themselves and their research in either a humourous or serious fashion etc.
Academic discussions are now encouraged at http://jaltcall.org/conferences/call99/discussion/index.html as announced by the CALL99 Member-At-Large Elin Melchior earlier.
Can you kindly limit other types of postings in deference to the large number of presenters and the time it takes them to download messages. We know you are all familiar with email netiquette but just a reminder to limit the amount of the previous posts to a line or two and to use clear subject headings. If you have specific information for the conference team kindly email them to me off list. i.e. - to holmes@nucba.ac.jp .
