Bateson studied Computer Science as an undergraduate at Imperial College, London
University. Later, in Japan, he studied by distance learning and obtained his Masters
degree in TESP (Teaching English for Specific Purposes) from Aston University in the UK.
He currently works at Kanazawa Gakuin University, teaching students of English and
technical majors, and continuing his research into CALL and online databases for
educators. For the last two years he has been registration co-chair for the JALT CALL
