Stephen Shucart

Stephen Shucart is an associate professor of English at Akita Prefectural University. He is in charge of the University's CALL Lab with 70 iMac computers. He is also the Telecommunications Chair for JALTCALL SIG. His special field of interest is Complexity Science and Second Language Acquisition.

Before coming to Japan he was co-owner of TripleGem Lapidary in Kathmandu, Nepal. He left America in 1972 and has lived in Afghanistan, India, Nepal, Indonesia, Greece, and Thailand. He taught English in none of those countries, instead he was a gemologist, lapidary, and a carpet and textile importer. Email: triplegem@akita-pu.ac.jp
